Ovum (egg) donation is a service provided through our program which allows women who has trouble or cannot conceive using her own eggs to experience childbirth, as well as parenthood. In the past, patients with this fertility problem could choose childlessness or adoption. Although both are excellent options for some, others strongly desire the chance to experience pregnancy and delivery.
Some indications for egg donation include: 1) Premature ovarian failure or primary ovarian insufficiency 2) Diminished ovarian reserve 3) Inheritable genetic conditions or genetic conditions which lead to recurrent miscarriage 4) Previous oophorectomy (ovaries removed)
We provide both anonymous- and known-donor services. We arrange anonymous donor services for our patients by using a list of women who have offered to donate their eggs to help infertility patients conceive. We also will work with outside donor services if the patient chooses to utilize a different anonymous service. Known-donation is chosen when a patient would prefer to use a family member or friend for egg donation and has found someone who would like to help them conceive.
If you are interesting in using an egg donor to achieve pregnancy and want to know more, please set up a consultation with one of our physicians. For current patients, a visit with Megan Rolfs, our IVF coordinator, can be arranged for more detailed information.
